Learn To Skate / Play

Development Programs

LAKES REGION YOUTH HOCKEY provides programs for your most inexperienced and youngest players.

Never skated before? Our Learn to Skate program is where to begin.

Skated and ready for full pads and some hockey play? Our Learn to Play program is available. This level is often referred to as Mini-Mites, or 6U.  We call it Learn to Play Mites.

Learn to Skate

This is  a  program with an emphasis on skating skills.

Ages 10 under
Each Session Includes:

- 1 Hour of on-Ice Instruction per Week
- Games and fun activities and/or scrimmages
- Skating Skills
- Stride Development
- Fun-filled Drills to encourage the Child’s Love for the Game

The Lakers Learn to Skate program is a great introductory program to skating and beginning hockey skills.  It is a coached program led  many of the local high school and junior teams to help on the ice.  This ratio of skater to coaches maximizes instruction time.

Schedule: As always, stay up to date by checking the site calendar.

1st Session begins: November 6th

While full hockey gear is not required, it is recommended, as these athletes tend, at least at first, to spend some quality time on the ice.  The league has a generous supply of gear to lend out for the Learn to Skate season.  Our In-House Coordinator would be happy to assist you with this.
